Oppo may be developing its own mobile chipset, the Oppo M1
Oppo could be looking to join the likes of Apple, Samsung and Huawei in manufacturing an in-house chipset. The company has been spending a lot on research and development lately. Hence, this piece of information is likely to be true. Oppo’s own mobile processor could be called the “Oppo M1.” The Chinese phone manufacturer has reportedly filed a trademark application on November 20 at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The description of the trademark says it is for or related to a mobile processor.
Oppo is reported to have approached engineers from Unisoc (Spreadtrum) and MediaTek. The trademark filing was first reported by LetsGoDigital. The website claims that Oppo may reveal details about the M1 mobile processor at MWC 2020. If not, the company could also announce the Oppo M1 at next year’s edition of Semicon China scheduled to be held in March. However, the Oppo M1 mobile processor could be launched later in the year, during the Mobile World Congress, Shanghai.
Oppo’s entry into the chip business is expected to bring big changes to its mobile phones since an in-house chip can ensure better communication between the company’s products. Oppo recently revealed ColorOS 7 in China. The Android 10-based Oppo OS will be unveiled in India on November 26. ColorOS 7 also brings obvious features such as an improved system performance, and a feature called Beauty Mode 2.0.
ColorOS 7 comes with a new modern UI, which is said to be cleaner with visually comfortable colour tones. The new OS also brings the option to customise app icons including the shape and size. It also brings a system-wide dark mode and new Art+ Wallpapers that aren't just live but also animate based on fingertip touches.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S allegedly caught fire, company claims customer induced damage
There have been numerous incidences where devices from different smartphone manufacturers have either caught fire, burst into flames or allegedly exploded. Most notable of all these cases has to be the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 debacle, which was a lesson not only for the South-Korean smartphone maker but for every other company in the business. Now, as per a Gadgets Now report, another such case has come to light and this time, it's a Xiaomi smartphone that allegedly caught fire. Ishwar Chavhan, a resident of Mumbai has alleged that out-of-the-blue, his Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S caught fire.
As per the report, Chavhan purchased the Redmi Note 7S from Flipkart in October and it was working as expected. However, on November 2 at around 5 PM, the handset was kept on a table and caught fire on its own, its owner claims. The device was neither charging nor was it dropped. However, the owner claims of noticing a faint smell of something burning and noticed his device had caught fire. Five days after contacting Xiaomi customer care, the company apparently got back to him saying there was some defect with the battery. However, later, in a statement, the company said that the damage caused was due to external force.
Xiaomi’s statement reportedly reads, “At Xiaomi, quality of our products is of utmost importance. The trust that Mi Fans have shown in the brand for the past 5 years is a testament to that. We also take pride in having one of the strongest after-sales networks in the country with an aim to solve customer issues seamlessly. In this particular case, after careful examination, it was concluded that the damage was caused due to external force, and thus, classified under ‘customer induced damage.”
As per the Gadget Now report, Chavhan posted his ordeal on Facebook but we were unable to find the associated account. Additionally, it looks like there the affected person’s Twitter account from where he tweeted about the incident apparently doesn’t exist.

Samsung Galaxy A71 leak reveals a punch-hole display, battery capacity and more
There have been a lot of Galaxy A-series rumours lately. The Galaxy A lineup has performed well for Samsung this year and the company is said to expand it in 2020. The latest leak is regarding the Galaxy A71, which reveals that the device is will have a punch-hole display. The selfie camera is supposed to be centrally-aligned like the Galaxy Note10 series, which translates to a smaller notch than the Galaxy S10 series.
In a set of renders, Onleaks has given us an early look at the alleged Galaxy A71’s design. The smartphone is shown to have shaved off bezels on the sides and just a few millimetres at the top and bottom. The Galaxy A71 is likely to feature an AMOLED display. However, the centrally-aligned punch-hole notch appears to be slightly bigger than that of the Galaxy Note10’s notch.
The renders have also revealed the back panel of the Galaxy A71. It is shown to sport a rectangular camera bump housing the four cameras arranged in an L-shape. The back seems to be curved on the sides for a better grip. No fingerprint scanner can be seen at the rear, which means the Galaxy A71 may have an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Samsung Galaxy A71 can come equipped with a USB Type-C port at the bottom. The renders also give us a look at the speaker grille and primary microphone on the right and the 3.5mm audio jack on the left. The phone is shown to have the SIM tray on the left side of the frame and the volume and power buttons rest on the right.
Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy A71 could pack a 4500mAh battery as revealed by on the left side of the frame while the volume and power buttons are on the right. The smartphone was also spotted on Geekbench last month. The Galaxy A71 could be powered bt the Snapdragon 675 chipset. It is expected to come equipped with 8GB RAM. The Galaxy A71 is likely to run Android 10 out of the box. Samsung could launch the Galaxy A71 in early 2020.

Tesla unveils Cybertruck, an all-electric light commercial vehicle with an 800km range
From an automaker that came up with a special ‘Ludicrous Mode’ to make its electric cars go faster, what sort of pickup truck can we expect but a mad-looking one? Tesla’s new all-electric light commercial vehicle, the Cybertruck, is indeed a futuristic collection of sharp edges on wheels. Unveiled yesterday by Tesla CEO Elon Musk at an event in Los Angeles, California, the Tesla Cybertruck features a maximum range of about 800 kilometres on a single charge and a maximum towing capacity of about 6 tonnes.
While it’s really cool to view in pictures and videos, the Tesla Cybertruck is nowhere close to being road-ready. Tesla has currently opened up its new electric pickup truck for online pre-order but deliveries will commence only in late 2021. The Tesla Cybertruck will be available in three variants: a single-motor variant with rear-wheel drive, a dual-motor variant with all-wheel drive, and a tri-motor variant with all-wheel drive. The tri-motor variant will be available for delivery only in late 2022.
The price of the new Tesla Cybertruck starts at $39,900 (Rs 28.61 lakh) and goes all the way up to $69,900 (Rs 50.17 lakh approx). While the base single-motor variant is good for a driving range of around 400 kilometres and does 0-100 kilometres per hour in under 6.5 seconds, the top-end tri-motor variant comes with a driving range of over 800 kilometres and can do 0-100 kilometres per hour in under 2.9 seconds. What’s more, a self-driving package can be bought optionally for $7,000 (Rs 5 lakh approx).
A profile view of Tesla’s new pickup truck reveals what’s best termed a long triangle on wheels. It has four small doors on the side and a long LED light strip running across its face. According to Tesla, the Cybertruck can supply power to power tools without needing a portable generator. The truck also packs an air compressor for pneumatic tools. Optional cabin features include bulletproofed doors and windows along with complete cabin pressurisation for amphibious use. We expect to get more details on this do-it-all electric pickup truck in the coming days.
