Vodafone Idea prepaid plans offer users 3GB daily data and up to 84 days validity

If you are a Vodafone Idea user then there is good news for you. There are a bunch of prepaid plans that Vodafone Idea is offering that gives users double the daily data. There are also some other plans which may not offer double the data but are enticing propositions. The validity of the double data plans goes up to 84 days, but there are plans with a validity of 365 days as well for those interested. The double data plans are ideal for those that are sitting at home during the lockdown period and don't have access to decent broadband but can consume content on their smartphone. This could be playing games online with friends, streaming movies and TV shows or simply social networking and staying in touch with friends through entertaining video calling options. So let's dive into the details of these plans.

Rs 249 plan: This plan comes within a validity of 28 days and thanks to the double data offering, gives users 3GB data per day (1.5GB+1.5GB). It comes with unlimited calling for the validity period. It also comes with a limit of 100 SMSes and access to Vodafone Play and Zee5.

Rs 399 plan: This plan comes within a validity of 56 days and thanks to the double data offering, gives users 3GB data per day (1.5GB+1.5GB). It comes with unlimited calling for the validity period. It also comes with a limit of 100 SMSes and access to Vodafone Play and Zee5.

Rs 599 plan: This plan comes within a validity of 84 days and thanks to the double data offering, gives users 3GB data per day (1.5GB+1.5GB). It comes with unlimited calling for the validity period. It also comes with a limit of 100 SMSes and access to Vodafone Play and Zee5.

There are a bunch of other plans as well that offer users 2GB and 3GB daily data but when you compare the price to value with the double data plans, it just makes more sense to exploit the double data plan as long as they are available. For example, there is a Rs 699 plan that gives users 2GB daily data and a validity of 84 days. Why would someone pay Rs 100 more when compared to the 599 plan and get 1GB data less per day? Similarly, we have the Rs 558 plan which gives users 3GB data daily and a validity of 56 days making it far more expensive than the Rs 399 double data plan that offers the same benefits. You can take a look at all the prepaid plans on offer by Vodafone Idea here.

In other Vodafone idea news, you can recharge your number via an ATM if you can't find a shop near your house to do the same during the lockdown. You can also recharge your Vodafone Idea number via SMS. you can learn the step by step process on how to do that here.

Amazon, Flipkart to resume operations as smartphone manufacturing to commence post April 21

As the nation continues to operate under lockdown, the Ministry of Home Affairs has put out a notice that details some of the services that will resume post April 20th. The circular listed a large number of entities that will be allowed to resume operations after the 20th of April, but this relaxation is conditional.

The list issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs is fairly large but lists out some interesting additions. For starters, e-commerce platforms will be allowed to resume operations, with goods carriers also getting a permit to transit between state lines without any hassles. This means Amazon and Flipkart will be able to resume operations. We have reached out to both the companies to understand just what this would mean, and whether they would go back to operating like they did in the pre-COVID-19 days.

In addition to e-commerce platforms, the government has also approved factories to be re-opened. This means that smartphones companies who have manufacturing units in the country can resume production. However, production may be resumed with a reduced staff, all of whom must practice social distancing and take appropriate measures so as to ensure there is no spread of the Coronavirus infection. The government, in its circular, has also said that any operations related to the supply chain of the approved industry are also allowed to resume operations.

While the government has relaxed the lockdown for various industries, there is still a complete ban on any kind of social or religious gatherings. Restaurants, bars, malls, movie theatres etc are ordered to remain closed as well. Additionally, areas that get designated as red zones due to an increase in the number of COVID cases, will not be permitted to carry out any of the newly allowed activities. You can read the full order here.

What this means for most of us is, well, for one, the OnePlus 8 may be reaching consumers’ hands a lot sooner than expected. Apple too announced the new iPhone SE (2020) and if e-commerce websites are allowed to resume business, then it is likely that these devices would be making their way into consumers’ hands before the lockdown is officially lifted. While all this looks promising, it all hinges on the hope that this increased activity won't lead to a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Apple iPhone SE 2020 launched in India as the new budget iPhone: India Price, specs, availability

Apple has announced the new iPhone SE which is the new budget iPhone and starts at Rs 42,500 for the 64GB storage variant in India and $399 in the United States (roughly Rs 30,000). The new iPhone SE retains the look of the iPhone 8 but comes with improved hardware inside.

Confirming most of the rumours that were doing the rounds the past few years, the iPhone SE looks almost identical to the iPhone 8, which means it comes with a 4.7-inch screen, a TouchID-enabled home button and sadly, no headphone jack.

iPhone SE (2020) hardware specifications and features

Apple announced an upgraded low-cost iPhone SE (2020). It’s basically the iPhone 8 with upgraded hardware. That includes the Apple A13 Bionic chip, the same chipset that powers the iPhone 11 series. Safe to say that Apple will be discontinuing the iPhone 8 as it doesn’t make sense for an older processor to compete with a new one. However, there’s no max variant of the iPhone SE (2020) and Apple may continue selling the iPhone 8 Max in some markets.

There’s also new camera hardware to talk about. The iPhone SE (2020) gets a single 12MP camera along with a lens that sports an aperture of f/1.8. Apple says the A13 Bionic SoC helps in eking more out of the single-lens setup. That includes a portrait mode that Apple is calling the ‘monocular depth-sensing’ where it uses machine learning to detect depth and separate faces from the background. It sounds like the portrait mode from the iPhone XR and quite expectedly, it works only on people, not on pets.

The camera also relies on Apple’s Smart HDR algorithm that combines data from multiple shots into a single photo to improve details and lighting. Apple says the camera can do ‘cinematic stabilisation’ on video and supports 4K video recording at 60 FPS.

There is also a front-facing 7MP selfie shooter that comes with the same portrait effects.

While Apple has not disclosed the battery capacity of the iPhone SE (2020), it’s expected to be the same as the iPhone 8 as most of the elements in the smartphone are identical. Apple also said cases compatible with the iPhone 8 will work with the iPhone SE (2020) so there’s no change in the dimensions at least. The new iPhone SE (2020) also carries an IP67 rating, which should put some concerns around durability to ease. The phone also comes with a 5W charger in the box even though the new iPhone supports 18W fast charging. It even supports Qi Wireless Charging, same as the iPhone 11 series, and while there is no headphone jack, it still comes with Lightning-based earphones in the box.

Lastly, the iPhone SE (2020) features Gigabit LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 6 and Dual-SIM support (the second one has to be an eSIM). Apple has replaced 3D Touch with Haptic Touch, which basically does the same thing when you long press on the screen. Speaking of the screen, it’s a compact 4.67-inch LCD Retina display with True Tone colour and looks and sounds exactly like the one on the iPhone 8.

iPhone SE (2020) price and availability

The iPhone SE (2020) will start at Rs 42,500 in India for the 64GB variant. Apple has not yet disclosed the availability date. The price of the 128GB and 256GB variants will be revealed later. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from the Product Red variant will go to Global Fund’s newly established COVID-19 Response Fund.

In the US, the iPhone SE (2020) is slightly cheaper and starts from $399. It’s available for pre-order starting Friday, April 17th and will ship from April 24th. The 128GB variant is priced $449 (roughly Rs 35,000) and the 256GB variant will retail for $549 (roughly Rs 42,000). The iPhone SE (2020) will be available in black, white and Product Red. Apple is offering one year free Apple TV+ subscription with the purchase of the new iPhone SE (2020), an offer that is valid in India as well.
