Valorant officially out now in Asia new agent, map and game mode also revealed

Riot Games' free-to-play FPS, Valorant, is out now and available for download. The launch was staggered, with the KR, Asia-Pacific, and OCE regions going live first, followed by Europe, Turkey, Russia and so on. During the recent closed beta, which was accessible only via special "Twitch drop enabled" streams, there were only NA (North America) and EU (Europe) servers available. We actually played the closed beta, you can read our first impressions here.

Indian servers?

The presence of an Asia-Pacific server hopefully means those playing from India will have more bearable ping. During our time in the beta, we really had a hard time because of the high ping on the EU server. There will not be any dedicated India-only servers at launch, however, Riot has gone on record saying that servers for the Middle East and South Asia will arrive later this year. That should significantly improve ping.

Sukamal Pegu, Publishing Head (South Asia) of Valorant had this to say:

"Riot Games is highly committed to providing the India and rest of the South Asia region with an excellent gaming experience. While you'll be joining the worldwide launch on June 2, the official servers which will support Middle East & South Asia will come later in the year.

Players in South Asia will be playing on the South East Asia servers (for now), and though you will experience a higher ping, you'll still be able to engage in enjoyable competitive battles. Make sure you register with your actual home country and original Riot ID to make your future server transition easier!

Our ِِregional social handles will soon be launched. Keep an eye out to get the latest updates."

What's new?

Valorant Reyna

Along with the official release comes the addition of a new agent, "Reyna", a new map "Ascent", and a new game mode, "Spike Rush". There will also be a Battle Pass, which will reward players with cosmetics for the agents.

Download where?

To download Valorant, simply head on over the game's official website. Once there, click on the "Play Now" button. You will be prompted to log into your Riot account. Create a new one if you don't have one or log in and you're on your way to download the game.

NVIDIA has already released Game Ready drivers for Valorant a few days ago, you can download the driver here.

What's in the works?

In addition to the new servers, the team is also apparently exploring other platforms for the game, such as mobile and console, according to Anna Donlon, Executive Producer of Valorant at Riot Games.

Sony PlayStation 5 Event Delayed Amid US Unrest

Sony on Monday postponed a streamed event at which it was to showcase games tailored for new-generation PlayStation 5 consoles, stepping back amid growing unrest in US cities.

PS5 June 4 reveal event has been postponed

PlayStation gamers, there is some bad news for you. The PS5 event scheduled for June 4 has been postponed. On the official PlayStation Blog, Sony has said, “We have decided to postpone the PlayStation 5 event scheduled for June 4. While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard.” PlayStation Twitter handle has also tweeted the same update. The PS5 reveal is a big deal for Sony but considering the current unrest in the US, Sony has decided to let go of the spotlight till things settle down.

The June 4 event was meant to showcase games launching for the PS4. It was speculated that we could get a glimpse of the new console but it was unlikely as Sony has said that this was the first in a series of events planned to showcase the PS5.

The beginning of June is usually when E3 (Electronics Entertainment Expo) kicks off. Due to the COVID-9 pandemic, however, the event has been cancelled. The surprising thing is that Sony announced early on that it wouldn’t participate in E3 this year and yet they were the first set to showcase games for the console at the time when E3 usually takes place.

While we haven’t seen the PS5 console, we have seen the new DualSense controller that players will get with the console. You can check out details of the controller here. Microsoft, on the other hand, has shown off the design and interior of the Xbox Series X and also had a gameplay reveal event to showcase games for the upcoming console. While Microsoft has said that all first-party games releasing for the first 2 years on the Series X will be playable on the Xbox One family of devices Sony has said that they will be looking forward to the PS5 and games launching for that system will take advantage of its capabilities.

In other Sony news, the Last of Us Part 2, one of the PlayStation's highly anticipated games is around the corner and you can read more about the game here.

Vivo unveils its X50 range of flagship smartphones

Vivo has just unveiled its new X50 series of flagship smartphones. This includes the Vivo X50, Vivo X50 Pro and the Vivo X50 Pro+. As one may expect, the Vivo X50 Pro+ is the flagship smartphone and packs the most tech. However, all smartphones in the series come with a large 6.56-inch display and feature a punch-hole camera design.

Vivo X50 Pro+ features and specifications

As one might expect, the Vivo X50 Pro+ is the flagship smartphone in the range and packs a whole host of tech. However, the highlight of the phone is the rear camera.  At the back of the device is a quad rear camera setup with a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP sensor with a periscope lens with 60x zoom, a 13MP sensor that is dedicated for a portrait photos lens and an 8MP sensor with a macro lens. The phone also comes with a gimbal system for image stabilisation, which is said to be better than tradition OIS systems. On the front is a 32MP unit

The phone packs a 4315mAh battery along with support for 44W fast charging. It also offers support for NFC.

Vivo X50 Pro

The Vivo X50 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 765 SoC and offers 8GB RAM. It packs a 6.56-inch FHD+ display that is curved at the edges. However, it offers a 90Hz refresh rate. The Vivo X50 Pro packs a similar camera setup as the  X50 Pro+, with the big difference though is that it packs a 48MP Sony IMX598 sensor. The remaining three sensors are pretty much the same. It too packs a gimbal system, which promises better OIS as compared to standard smartphone OIS solutions. For selfies, it also comes with a 32MP front camera.

The device packs a 4315mAh battery, with support for 33W fast charging. It is available in two storage variants, namely 128GB and 256GB.

Vivo X50

The standard Vivo X50 doesn’t feature the camera prowess of its ender siblings, but it is touted as being the slimmest 5G available in the world right now. Like the others, it packs a 6.56-inch FHD+ display. However, the display is flat and not curved on the sides. The device does not come with the 60x zoom periscope camera but does pack a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 13MP unit dedicated for portrait shots. At the front is a 32MP unit for selfies.

This variant packs a slightly smaller 4200mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. The Vivo X50 is powered by a Snapdragon 765 SoC with 8GB RAM and is available with 128GB or 256G storage.

Remove China Apps becomes top free app on Google Play Store in India

Remove China Apps has been doing the rounds on the Internet with a single purpose, it helps you remove Chinese apps from your Android smartphone. The app was released on Play Store on May 17 and has gathered over a million downloads ever since. It claims that it can automatically detect apps that originate from China and offer the user an option to uninstall those apps from their phones.

The latest app comes at a time when Indians are riding high on anti-China sentiments due to a political dispute between two nations and also the push by Prime Minister of India to do away with Chinese products by going vocal for local. As a result, the Indian populace has been finding ways to boycott Chinese products with many celebrities and individuals leading the forefront.

At the time of writing this article, Remove China Apps has 4.8 ratings on Google Play Store with more than one million downloads and is ranked numero uno in the list of top free apps on Play Store. Interestingly, the app overthrew the Aarogya Setu contact tracing app to become the top free app on the Android app store.

How does Remove China Apps work?

Remove China Apps has been developed by Jaipur-based OneTouch AppLabs that cites it as an “educational category application”. The app identifies the country of origin of apps installed on your smartphone and offers users a way to uninstall these apps if they choose to do so.

Having said that, the developers have warned that they are not responsible for any of the information provided by the app whether correct or incorrect and “users should act only at their own will.” This is because the app detects the country of origin of an application based on “market research”. Moreover, the developers have clarified their stance on the increasingly popular app by stating that the app does not force people to uninstall any applications.

This brings us to the question of why we need a dedicated app to remove apps from our phones.

Why does Remove China Apps exist?

Given the current situation, the political dispute between India and China and the push to adopt Made in India goods, citizens are actively protesting by using apps like Remove China Apps in order to get rid of any and all Chinese influences in their lives. There has been much furore online over boycotting Chinese products including mobile phones and apps.

As per a recent survey conducted by Manoj Kewalramani of the Takshashila Institution, more than 67 per cent of Indians believe China to be responsible for the Coronavirus outbreak across the world. While the sample size recorded responses of 1299 individuals, a large majority of online chatter now revolves around boycotting Chinese goods and services from India.

This is after Prime Minister of India actively asked citizens to go “Vocal for Local” products and Made in India goods and services. This resulted in a severe backlash of Chinese products, companies and services.

Should you download Remove China Apps to uninstall other apps?

Remove China Apps scans your phone for pre-installed apps and notifies you of the apps that have a Chinese origin. Having said that, every Android smartphone comes built-in with an uninstaller which helps you remove the app without having to download another third-party app.

Remove China Apps doesn’t seek any permission to start and run a scan. Though we recommend our readers to only download the apps that they use often and are trustworthy. The Remove China Apps application recommends users to uninstall apps such as ShareIt and TikTok, both of which have over one billion downloads on Play Store. Interestingly, the app doesn’t identify PUBG Mobile as a possible Chinese app even when the developers Tencent Games are based out of China.

So, in the end, it’s a user’s call if they want to uninstall apps that originate from China, though we will still recommend you to go through the regular uninstallation process rather than relying on a third-party app remover as it’s a much more secure and hassle-free way.
