Sony unveils new PS5 VR controllers with a ton of features including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers

With the PS5 being out in the market for a few months now, it looks like Sony is also looking at making VR a priority. The company has just unveiled its new VR controllers that look suspiciously like the Oculus Rift VR controllers. This is a radical departure from the ball on a stick controller that the PS4 used. Sony also went on to state that the controllers will come with adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, finger touch detection and much more. With a more ‘orb’ like design, these controllers do look rather futuristic. Sony also says that the controllers are well-balanced and comfortable to hold in your hands.

Sony's new PS5 VR controllers

In a blog post, Sony also stated that, “the new VR controller enables players to feel and interact with games in a much more visceral way. There are several features, including key features from the DualSense controller, which match our vision for what next-generation VR games can be.”. Now, what remains to be seen is how developers will make use of the controller to deliver unforgettable experiences on PS5 VR. The controllers look to have analog sticks on both left and right units with two of the face buttons on each controller. Judging by the design, we also assume that these controllers will come with wrist straps to hold them in place.

VR has not taken off as the next-gen medium experts thought it was going to be. There have been a few ground-breaking experiences like Half Life: Alyx (review) and even Super Hot, but the barrier of entry remains rather expensive for normal folk. Let’s see if VR on the PS5 could be the game-changer the medium desperately needs.

PUBG Corporation is hiring in India, but PUBG Mobile India re-release is uncertain

Ever since PUBG Mobile was banned in India back in September last year, there's a lot of speculation about whether it will ever make a comeback. Although we see plenty of reports on a daily basis suggesting the game's comeback, the fate of PUBG Mobile in India remains uncertain.

On the same lines, we have yet another piece of info that can be tied to the game's comeback. It looks like PUBG Corporation is hiring people to work from its Bengaluru office. The company posted some listings on LinkedIn which suggests that they are looking for an Investment & Strategy Analyst.

The company is looking for an Investment & Strategy Analyst.

The listing is for an associate-level position and is looking for someone who can support the senior team in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), investment, and more. This particular listing was posted at around midnight, March 18.

PUBG Corporation now hiring in India

The responsibilities and duties described in the listing say they are looking for someone to support the senior team in “evaluation and analysis of M&A/Investment opportunities, including conducting gaming/entertainment/tech industry research and analysis." The candidate will also have to “support in key corporate strategic planning processes” and support the “process and global deal flow evaluation with respect to India and MENA regions.”

While the listing doesn't provide any confirmation about PUBG Mobile's comeback in India, it does show that some work is being done behind the scenes and they are still growing the office in the country.

This, by the way, isn't the first time PUBG Corporation has posted a job listing in India post the game's official ban in the country. The company was looking for a Corporate Development Division Manager in India back in October 2020 too.

This report also reminds us about the time when Krafton Games didn't open pre-registrations in India for its new version of PUBG Mobile called PUBG: New State and instead said they are focusing on bringing the original game back. So perhaps they are still focusing on that and a lot of work is still going into it behind the scenes.

Cherrys new MX ultra low profile mechanical key switches will be first seen on Alienwares gaming laptops

As satisfying as the mechanical keyboards really are to use, we don't have a lot of laptops on the market with mechanical key switches. The main reason for that being the bulky keys taking up too much space on the laptops. Despite using low-profile keys, some of these laptops still tend to feel super bulky.

Well, Cherry is completely aware of this situation, and it is hoping to fix it with its new Cherry MX Ultra Low Profile keyboard switch. Before we talk a little bit more about the keys themselves, just take a quick look at the image below to see exactly what the keys bring to the table.

Cherry's new MX ultra low profile mechanical key switches

As you can see, the new MX ultra-low profile switches seem to be on par with regular laptop keyboard design. It's just one-third the height of a low profile switch and is almost six times flatter than a regular MX style switch. These keys are just 3.5mm thick and are made out of thermoplastic polymer besides the stainless steel wings.

According to Cherry, “The CHERRY MX Ultra Low Profile lacks the traditional housing and plunger components. Instead, it relies on a two-piece keycap mount made of stainless steel, which is preloaded via a spring and is an element of the mechanics. This implementation allows for an extremely precise actuation.”

It is hard to tell how these keys feel because we haven't had a chance to use them yet. But Alienware has become the first manufacturer to have the world's first gaming laptops with Cherry MX ultra-low profile mechanical key switch. In fact, Alienware's M15 R4 or the M17 R4 laptops can already be configured to have mechanical keyboards with these new switches for an additional cost of $150.

Cherry says these keys have 1.8mm of total travel, which provides a satisfying amount of feedback. Alienware also sent out a tweet that gives a very good idea of how these keys will sound. Check it out -

Super  sweet  news is dropping tomorrow. Until then @cherrymx pic.twitter.com/YKkdMhpG7a

— ALIENWARE (@Alienware) March 17, 2021

When you get this upgrade for the Alienware laptops, you will get per-key RGB backlighting and AlienFX customization, along with full N-key rollover with anti-ghosting. All keys except the function row will have the Cherry MX ultra-low profile switches.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2 gets a new multiplayer map and Tank Battle mode

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2 has received the new Shipment multiplayer map and a Tank Battle mode in Battle Royale. To recall, the new Shipment map was introduced with the public beta update and now has received a revamp as Shipment 2019. Along with this, a new Tank Battle mode has been added to the Battle Royale mode allowing players to assemble a tank and go against one another.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2 new multiplayer map

COD: Mobile players can experience the new map as well as the new model as it has gone live on March 19. The new Shipment 2019 map is a modern iteration after its 1944 World War II setting in the older version of the map. The Shipment map remains one of the smallest maps offered by the mobile game and is a haven for close-quarter combats.

The map also allows players to jump on the top of containers to get leverage with some vantage points but otherwise most battle happens on the ground. Players can try a mix of SMGs, assault rifles and even snipers on this map, but they need to be familiar with it first.

The new Tank Battle mode allows players to hop into a tank and go head to head with heavy artillery. The players need to acquire the parts of the tank from a vending machine placed at various strategic places on the map. These vending machines also offer anti-tank weapons as well as components to build a tank and repair guns as well.

A tank can be called after 5 components have been collected by a player. Some blueprints for building a tank can also be collected from airdrops, so don’t forget to keep an eye out for those. Furthermore, the task at hand is to capture the depot by a tank that also provides repairs and ammunition. Players will have to take their tanks to one of the depots until the final circle. The Tank Battle mode is live in Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2 until March 24.
