Battlegrounds Mobile India to end PUBG: Mobile data transfer on December 31

Krafton has confirmed that this will be the last month that PUBG: Mobile players will be able to transfer their old game data to Battlegrounds Mobile India. After this, those players will lose all of their previous purchases and achievements to BGMI. As such, any player who has not linked the accounts yet should do so as soon as possible.

PUBG: Mobile to Battlegrounds Mobile India data transfer - Final date

Krafton notes that data transfer between PUBG: Mobile and Battlegrounds Mobile India will no longer be available after December 31, 2021, 23:59:59 (UTC). This is roughly January 1, 2022, 5:30am IST.

The data transfer feature has its own set of controversies. Earlier this year, it was reported that the game was sending data back to servers in China. This included China Mobile Communication servers in Beijing and Tencent-run Proxima Beta servers in Hong Kong. Krafton Inc. has since acknowledged that Battlegrounds Mobile India uses “third-party solutions to provide unique game features.” As such, some data was sent to third parties as part of using these solutions. It claims that the game’s privacy policy fully disclosed that the app may transfer some data. It further added that no data was shared in violation of the policy. It also noted that the data that is shared with third parties is only to enable certain game features. It says that it will “continue to monitor and protect any data being transferred to unexpected and restricted IP addresses prior to the official launch.”

It should be noted that data transfer can only happen if PUBG: Mobile players linked their accounts with Twitter. Those who use guest accounts are out of luck as this means their progress from the previous game will be lost forever and they will have to start all over again.

OnePlus 10 series will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, confirms CEO Pete Lau

After Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, OnePlus has now come out and announced that it will be one of the first phone makers to launch a phone with the chipset. This was after OnePlus’ Pete Lau has confirmed on Weibo that the next-gen OnePlus phones will “be the first to be equipped with a new generation of Snapdragon 8" chipsets.

While Lau did not confirm the name of the device, but it is expected that the device will be either the OnePlus 10 or OnePlus 10 Pro. This will also fall in line with the company launching flagships in the past, which are powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship series processor. Earlier, reports have claimed both these phones could be unveiled in China first and will launch globally at a later date. The OnePlus 10 series is expected to be the company’s flagship lineup for 2022 and is rumoured to launch in either January or February.

This information comes courtesy of popular tipster, Max Jambor, who claims the OnePlus 10 Pro will launch in China sometime in January or February. Post which, the company will bring the device to global markets sometime in March or April. If true, this means there will be a gap of some months between the China launch and global launch for the upcoming flagship OnePlus devices -- which will be a first for the company.

This would also be in stark contrast to the company's strategy in recent years which has seen OnePlus release phones globally and its home country of China at the same time. But this time, it looks like OnePlus is looking to change things a bit, especially since it is now working more closely with sister-brand, Oppo. Interestingly, Oppo follows a similar launch cycle where it launches products in China first and after a few months they are released globally.

The OnePlus 10 Pro has leaked previously in early prototype renders. The OnePlus 10 Pro features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display that offers QHD+ (3216x1440 pixels) resolution and likely supports a high refresh rate of 120Hz or more. The phone has a thickness of 8.7mm as per OnLeaks, and the full dimensions are 163.2 mm x 73.6 mm x 8.7 mm, which is the same as the OnePlus 9 Pro.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series could launch with Snapdragon 8 Gen1 in India: Report

Samsung Galaxy S22 series is tipped to launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset instead of the Exynos 2200 in India. While the launch date is under wraps, Samsung could unveil the S22 lineup in early February. The company usually releases Exynos SoC powered variants of their flagship phones in India. However, that has changed in the recent past where we have seen more Samsung phones with Qualcomm Snapdragon chips make it to India than ever before.

As per a tweet by tipster FrontTron, the S22 series that launches in India will be powered by the recently announced Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset. From the tweet, it seems like the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra will all have the latest Snapdragon chip under the hood which is a departure from the Exynos variants that often ends up launching in India.

India S22 Series will be getting a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, instead of an Exynos 2200 chipset.

Another piece of information coming from the Ice Universe Twitter handle states that the Samsung Galaxy S22 series could launch on February 8. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has leaked previously (1, 2) and the entire lineup is slated to get a revamped design, especially the design of the camera module.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.8-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is likely topped with Gorilla Glass. The phone is expected to draw inspiration from the design and profile of the Galaxy Note series. Moreover, it's also expected to support the S Pen like last year but there are rumours that the S22 Ultra also has a dedicated stylus holder like the Galaxy Note phones.

The cameras on the S22 Ultra are said to be generational upgrades featuring the same resolutions as last year. We are expecting a 108MP main camera based on the HM3 sensor along with a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 10MP periscope telephoto camera and a 10MP telephoto lens. On the front, there is likely a 40MP selfie camera.

There are still weeks to go if Samsung’s usual launch timelines are to be taken into account. The Snapdragon 8 Gen1 was launched last week and companies like Motorola, Xiaomi and Realme are already teasing the launch of their respective flagship phones powered by the new chip in December itself.
