CS:GO Paris Major 2023: s1mple and his troops miss out on a playoffs berth fnatic and NiP also fail to make the cut

It is that time at the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. After almost two weeks of exciting battles between teams across the Challengers and Legends stage, we have our contenders for the playoffs. The best part? It wasn’t until the end of Day 4 of the Legends stage of the Paris Major 2023 that we knew which teams will be pitted against each other as they enter the playoffs. By the end of Day 3, things had cleared up, as a bunch of teams were eliminated from the tournament. Let’s take a dive into the matches held on Day 4, and what things look like for the playoffs.

CS:GO Paris Major 2023: Legends Stage - Day 4 - No s1mple or KRIMZ in the playoffs

The first match of the day had NAVI facing off against FaZe. Both the teams have won one Major each in the last two years and had their fates hanging by a silk thread as they headed into this match-up. And, the way these two teams played, their desperation to win shined through. On the first map of the series, Overpass, NAVI got the better of FaZe as they cruised home to a 16-13 win. However, on the second map, the tables turned, and FaZe thrashed the men in black and yellow, beating them 16-5 on Mirage.

Congratulations to the teams advancing to the Champions Stage of the @BLASTtv Paris Major:@heroicgg (3-0)@TeamVitality (3-0)@GamerLegion (3-1)@TeamLiquid (3-1)@Monte_Esports (3-1)@apeksgg (3-2)@FaZeClan (3-2)@ITBesports (3-2)

— CS2 (@CounterStrike) May 16, 2023

It was on the series decider that the majority of the nail-biting action unfolded. Anubis saw both NAVI and FaZe battle it out into two overtimes. When the dust settled, it was FaZe who had managed to defeat the Ukrainian powerhouse that is NAVI, knocking them out of the tournament.

For the second match of the day, fnatic faced off against Into the Breach. fnatic had been looking in an awesome run of form and had sent G2 back home the other day. However, when push came to shove, they failed to hold their ground. After winning the first match of the series 16-12, they never came back to winning ways. On Overpass, they lost 16-8, and on Vertigo, they fared even worse. They lost 16-4, crashing out of the tournament in a very spectacular fashion.

In the last match of the day, it was Ninjas and Pyjamas playing against Apeks, fighting for the last place in the playoffs. The Ninjas were of no match to Apeks. They lost against the European underdogs by a 2-0 margin, as Apeks marched on into the quarter-finals.

Here's a look at the final standings of the teams at the end of the Legends stage -

Paris major 2023 points table legends stage

The last phase of the tournament begins on Thursday, May 18 and we will be seeing quite a few new entrants at the stages of the Major. Heroic will take on FaZe to start off the proceedings. I don’t know about you, but watching cadiaN’s energy on stage, especially given that this is the last CS:GO Major before we transition into Counter-Strike 2, is something that I am really looking forward to. As a fan of the eSport, two key things are on my mind – the melancholy of not having some of the biggest names of the game like s1mple and NiKo on the stage, and the joy of potentially seeing a new group of misfits getting their hands on the trophy.

Here's what the schedule looks like for the playoffs of the Paris Major 2023 -

Paris major 2023 playoffs schedule

Anyways, the way things are looking right now, the stage is set for a proper send-off to our favourite person’s favourite first-person shooter game.

Mobile gaming will improve after 2024, thanks to NVIDIA GPUs in MediaTek chip smartphones

Smartphone gaming is set to get a huge boost! Industry sources are reporting that MediaTek chips will have an NVIDIA GPU into smartphone chipsets as early as 2024. That means better frame rates on BGMI and eFootball, among others!

According to the sources, MediaTek and NVIDIA will work together to produce WOA (Windows on Arm) platform solutions for notebook applications, in addition to co-developing mobile phone platforms to improve the AI and gaming capabilities of MediaTek's application processors.

NVIDIA's fourth quarter, which concluded in January 2023, saw a 21% yearly sales reduction; nonetheless, the US-based GPU manufacturer has continued to receive significant purchases regarding its A100/H100 chips from customers all over, as well as for the weakened A800/H800 GPUs via Chinese clients.

MediaTek and NVIDIA partnership

The third quarter will see TSMC entirely using its 7/5nm production capacity thanks to follow-up foundry orders it has received for the A100/H100 and A800/H800 chips, according to sources in Taiwan's semiconductor supply chain. NVIDIA has also reserved CoWoS packaging capacity at TSMC in the meanwhile.

Besides trying to boost their smartphone gaming roadmap with NVIDIA GPUs inside, the sources also noted that MediaTek presently concentrates on the novice Chromebook market having a 20% share, and pointed out that the WOA platform devices would also increase MediaTek's foothold in the midrange to premium notebook sectors. An industry prediction predicts that 20 million Chromebooks will be shipped globally in 2023, the same amount as in the year prior.

With increased GPU order flow caused by peak season in the gaming business, NVIDIA will also probably witness quarterly performance improvements in the subsequent half of the year.

The sources also said that by working together to build WOA platform products that are supported by GPU and AI technology from NVIDIA, the two businesses would be better able to compete in the notebook market.

How to get iPhone notifications on Windows PC using this free and quick method

Never miss a notification from your iPhone again, if you have a Windows PC, thanks to the Microsoft Phone Link app. The Link To Windows app on your iPhone will show real-time iPhone notifications on the desktop. Here’s how it works.

How to sync iPhone notifications with Windows

You need to install the Link to Windows app on your iPhone (from the iOS app store) and the Phone Link app from the Microsoft Store on your Windows 11 PC.

Once they are downloaded, follow these steps to set up the connection between iPhone and Windows:

1. Open the Link to Windows app on your iPhone and the Phone Link app on your Windows 11 PC.

Link to Windows

2. Once you give all required permissions, all you need to do is to scan a QR code on the PC app using the scanner within the iPhone app.

3. With the click of a few buttons, you can get it up and running. For good measure, go to the iPhone’s Bluetooth settings and tap on the (i) symbol next to the Windows PC name in the list.

4. Enable Share System Notifications (it should turn green to denote it’s enabled). You should see the notifications appear on the Phone Link app on your desktop. By default, the app shows a (Calls) screen with a dialer. It is flanked by a Messages screen.

Link to Windows

On the left edge, you will see an expand icon (>), clicking which opens the notification tray. Ensure it shows the connection status as connected. You can click on the refresh button to force the sync in case something isn’t working. In my experience, the thing took some time to display the notifications. Don’t the cause for the delay.

Link to Windows

In the aforementioned device’s Bluetooth (i) settings screen, you can also see toggles for Show Notifications and Sync Contacts also. Turning them on allows you to dial calls and see phone messages on the Phone Link app. There is no option to reply though, which is a limitation at this point. Let’s see if things change in a future update. That’ll be interesting.

TRAI angry at Jio, Airtel, Vi for fake unlimited 5G and 4G plans

After working with Indian telcos on AI-based spam call filters to help users avoid scams, TRAI has now taken up a new mission. TRAI’s investigating the past and present tariff plans of various telcos for 2G, 3G, 4G and now even 5G network.

By comparing the rates they want to see if the telcos are engaging in any sort of excess pricing than required or maybe trying to flatter its customers with false claims of so-called unlimited plans.

Also Read: How will 5G India launch impact the lives of Indians?

Tariffs of the different telcos are definitely in their own hands and they can decide the amount for their different plans. But if they try to engage in fraudulent or predatory activities, then TRAI comes into action.

TRAI started this investigation when Vi filed a complaint against Reliance Jio and Airtel claiming that they are offering 5G services at 4G prices, because of which Vi is now bearing losses as a lot of users are shifting to the other two telcos.

Also Read: Jio ₹296 vs Airtel ₹296 vs Vi ₹296: Which offers the best prepaid plan benefits?

TRAI

When TRAI asked Jio and Airtel, they didn't accept the claims and instead said that it was Vi who first started wrongly advertising "Unlimited" earlier with its 4G plans.

TRAI is now focusing on the comparison of prices for the different data plans of all the service providers to check who exactly started the predatory trend and when it all began.

Now, we see all the service providers up with Unlimited plans and offers. Hence, TRAI is now carefully investigating and comparing each service provider's past and present plan records and will soon come up with their conclusion.
