The JioPhone 2, Reliance Jio’s second smart feature phone, will go on sale for the first time today at 12PM. The JioPhone 2 was announced alongside JioGigaFiber at RIL’s 41st AGM back in July. The device is different from the first JioPhone as it now sports a full QWERTY keypad and a horizontal display. Much of the other specs of the phone remain the same as the first JioPhone. JioPhone 2 Specs and features The JioPhone 2 is a smart feature phone with a 2.4-inch display that looks much like an older BlackBerry device. It houses a QWERTY keypad and a four-way navigation key. It will support dual SIM cards, one 4G VoLTE slot for the Jio number and another 2G slot in which one can place a SIM card of any other operator according to Jio. The phone comes with 512MB of RAM, alongside 4GB of internal storage, expandable upto 128GB through a micro-SD card. It runs on the same KAI OS as the first JioPhone and will is powered by a 2,000mAh battery. The JioPhone uses a 1GHz Dual-core processor and in terms of camera, Jio has bundled a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera. For connectivity, The JioPhone 2 will support VoLTE as well as Jio’s upcoming VoWiFi service which will allow users to make phone calls using any public Wi-Fi. The phone also supports NFC, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth Low Energy and will have an FM Radio built-in. Since this is a smart feature phone intended to upgrade existing feature phone users who mostly speak local languages, the JioPhone 2 comes with support for 22 Indian languages. These include - Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri , Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. The JioPhone is also wquipped for voice commands, so users can just press one button to open apps, send messages and much more. In terms of app support, the JioPhone 2 brings all of Jio’s apps: MyJio, JioMusic, JioTV, JioCinema, JioXpressNews, Voice Assistant, JioVideoCall, JioGames etc. More apps can be downloaded from JioStore app store which also offers Facebook, WhatsApp, and YouTube. Other compatible accessories for the phone include - JioMediaCable and JioFi for Wi-Fi access. These will need to be purchased separately. How to buys JioPhone 2 The JioPhone 2 will be up for flash sale on Jio.com and My Jio App today at 12PM. This shows that Reliance Jio has limited units to sell today so make sure you get your trigger finger ready. To buy the JioPhone 2 on jio.com/My Jio app, first visit Jio.com website or app, select JioPhone 2, enter Pincode, proceed to checkout, enter your personal details like Name, email id and mobile number, select the desired payment option, pay Rs 2,999 and you will receive an order confirmation notification via email, SMS. JioPhone 2 Plans The JioPhone 2 can be bundled with three plans from Reliance Jio. There is a Rs 48 plan which will give users 1GB data, 50 free SMS, free unlimited calling and access to Jio apps for a validity of 28 days. The Rs 99 plan offers 14GB of data, free calling, 300 SMS, and access to Jio apps for 28 days. Lastly, the Rs 153 plan from Jio offers 42GB of data, free calling, access to Jio apps, and free unlimited SMS, again, for a validity of 28 days.
