HMD Global will host its launch event in Dubai in just a few hours, but ahead of the launch, the star attraction of the show, the Nokia 8.1 Plus has leaked in a promo video. NokiaPowerUser posted the short thirty-second video, which reaffirms almost everything that’s already known about the phone. The promo video gives a look at the ZEISS Optics dual rear camera setup on the phone, which is suggested to feature Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). As per the video, the device will be capable of capturing “superior” low light photos and AI portrait photos. The PureDisplay is showed off in the video, tipping at an HDR 10 enabled screen. The Nokia 8.1 is expected to be the rebranded, global version of the China-exclusive Nokia X7, and it is said to launch in Iron Steel, Blue Silver and Steel Copper colour variants. After its debut in Dubai, the Nokia 8.1 is expected to launch in India on December 10. Nokia 8.1 Launch Event: How To Watch Livestream Nokia will be live streaming today’s launch event via its various social media channels. The event is slated to commence at 8:30 PM IST and you can watch it directly from the video embedded below. Nokia 8.1 Expected Specifications The official Nokia 8.1 images, along with its promotional slides were previously leaked as well. It is expected to feature similar design and specs as the Nokia X7. The Nokia 8.1 will feature a 6.18-inch display with a 2246x1080p resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. There is also a notch on top of its display that houses the front camera and other sensors. It is powered by the Snapdragon 710 SoC that is clocked at 2.2 GHz and is coupled with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The device is powered by a 3400 mAh battery and sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Nokia X7 was launched running on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box but the Nokia 8.1 is expected to launch running on Android 9 Pie. Some reports suggest that the company might also be working on its Nokia 9 Pureview phone. Images of the alleged device’s back case were recently leaked. The rear panel was seen featuring seven cutouts for the camera setup, but five of these are said to be for the lenses and the other two could be for an LED flash and an IR focusing apparatus. An elongated cut-out on one of the cameras hints at the presence of a microphone. You can read more about the device here.
