Xiaomi is launching its flagship Mi 9 at an event in Beijing today. The Xiaomi Mi 9 is the successor to the Mi 8 flagship and the company's Co-founder and CEO Lei Jun has already announced some of its specifications and features in the past two weeks. The Mi 9 launch event is scheduled to start at 2PM local China time (11.30AM IST) and the company will live stream the event on its official China website. Xiaomi has been teasing its presence at MWC and is likely to unveil the phone for global markets at an event on February 24 in Barcelona. Xiaomi Mi 9 Specifications The Xiaomi Mi 9 will be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 processor. There is no concrete information on the RAM and storage variants, but Jun has already announced that there will be a 12GB variant. Leaks have suggested that Xiaomi Mi 9 will also come in 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage configurations. There will be a model with transparent back that is expected to have 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage configurations. The Mi 9 will reportedly have a 6.4-inch 1080p AMOLED display. Jun has already confirmed that the display is provided by Samsung and it will sport a waterdrop notch offering a 90.7 percent screen-to-body ratio. According to the company, the display will feature 600 nit brightness and will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. The Mi 9 will ship with features like Sunlight Mode 2.0 and Reading Mode 2.0, which are claimed to help improve screen legibility under varying lighting conditions. The Xiaomi Mi 9 will be the company’s first triple camera phone. The triple camera setup will have a primary Sony IMX586 48MP sensor with 0.8 µm pixel pitch and a 1/2-inch image sensor. It supports 4-in-1 pixel binning and features a 6P lens. There is a 12MP f/2.2 telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom, and a 16MP sensor with a 117-degree wide viewing angle. The camera setup features laser autofocus with PDAF and CDAF support. The front camera in the notch will have a 20MP sensor. The phone is reported to come with a fifth-generation optical in-display fingerprint scanner which is claimed to be 25 percent faster than the previous generation. For gaming, the Xiaomi Mi 9 will come equipped with a Game Turbo feature that will enable users to monitor CPU/GPU/FPS in real-time.
