Highlights: BSNL is offering a month’s free trial of its broadband service. Only existing landline customers can avail the offer. The state-owned telco is currently offering a cashback offer of 25% on its annual broadband subscription. Since its shutdown report, BSNL has gone bullish in the telecom space and has revamped several plans to compete with the likes of Jio, Vodafone-Idea and Airtel. Now, in a bid to retain its customers and apparently attract more people to use its services in future, the state-owned telco is offering a month’s free trial of its broadband service with a speed of 8Mbps and 5GB data. You can sign-up for the free trial till March 31. Moreover, those who want to avail the free trial won’t have to pay any fee up front, which means that there will be zero monthly rental for the subscribers who are trying the BSNL broadband service under this offer and they will not have to pay a security deposit. But there’s a catch. Only existing BSNL landline customers can avail the offer, so if you are planning to buy a new connection to test it, you will be disappointed. Also, after the 5GB FUP, the speed will be throttled down to 1Mbps from 8Mbps. Reportedly, BSNL has informed interested subscribers of this free trial that in case they do not cancel the plan then they will be migrated to a BB plan of their choice. “In case they do not make a choice, then BSNL will upgrade them by default to the BB BSNL CUL plan,” TelecomTalk reported. The BB BSNL CUL plan offers 1.5GB data per day to users at 8 Mbps speed and a post-FUP speed of 1 Mbps. The fixed monthly rental for the BB BSNL CUL plan has been pegged at Rs 299 and subscribers can start with the plan by paying a security deposit of Rs 500. BSNL is currently offering a cashback offer of 25 percent on its annual broadband subscription. So, if users opt for a yearly plan, they will be able to save 25 percent on their bills. The plan also bundles unlimited free calling to BSNL networks in India and Rs 300 worth of free calling to other networks within India. It is noteworthy that BSNL does not offer its service in Delhi and Mumbai. Related Read: BSNL introduces Rs 599 prepaid plan with unlimited voice calling for 180 days
