OEMs are now focussing on incorporating an edge-to-edge display on their phones and have resorted to methods like punch hole display and pop-up camera mechanism to achieve their goal. Another way to achieve the notchless display is by adding a magnetic manual slider, like we have seen in the Mi Mix 3. Asus is the latest company to jump into the fray and is now reportedly developing a phone with a dual slider design. Although there is not much information on the name of the device, the rumour mill is calling it the Asus Zenfone 6.

The images have been shared by famous tipster Evan Blass who claims that he got the renders from “one of ASUS's Zenfone 5 designers.” It could be due to this fact that the phone is being called the Zenfone 6. When asked, “Zenfone 5? Shouldn't that be 6?” in the message thread, the tipster replied by saying, “Why would you say that?” suggesting that the handset may have a different name altogether.

On the contrary, Asus Zenfone 6 has purportedly been spotted on Geekbench and AnTuTu listing in the past. The phone is said to bear the model number ASUS_I01WD and was listed on both benchmarking plaforms with the mentioned number. It is also being reported that Asus will launch the rumoured Zenfone 6 in Valencia, Spain on May 16.

Now coming back to the renders, the striking things that the images show are the different type of sliders. By 'different types' we mean that each sliding option is seen sporting different hardware. While one image shows Harman Kardon speakers sliding out from the bottom, the other image shows cameras popping up from behind the phone. He also shared another set of photos that show a touch panel sliding out from the bottom and dual-cameras with dual flash sliding out from the top.

There is a difference in the design of both phones as well. While one shows more rounded corners and metal finish, the other one is seen having regular edges, a wider display and it seems to have a glass finish. As far as the hardware is concerned, the rumoured Zenfone 6 is said to ship with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with X50 5G modem. It may pack 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and run Android 9 Pie-based ZenUI. Both phones are seen sporting a dual camera setup on the back.

Related Read:

Asus Zenfone Max Shot and Zenfone Max Plus M2 introduces Qualcomm's Snapdragon SiP1 system-in-package chip

Another riff on the concept. pic.twitter.com/b1ti4VAeSv
— Evan Blass (@evleaks) 7 April 2019
