Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL quietly get knocked off shelves

Highlights: Google quietly discontinues the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Links to Pixel 2 product pages now lead you to Pixel 3.   It appears Google has quietly taken the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL off the shelf. As reported by Android Police first, the two Pixel 2 devices are no longer seen on the Google Store. Clicking on a link to the Pixel 2 product page on Google or anywhere else now takes you to the Pixel 3’s product page. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL were launched in November last year to replace the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL respectively. According to Android Police’s recent report on the matter, Google had temporarily stopped sales of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL earlier this year around Valentine’s Day, hinting it was clearing off the last remaining units. The company’s decision to remove the two devices from the Google Store altogether suggests that it has finally exhausted the last of its stocks and doesn’t plan to restock. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL were launched in India in October 2017 at a starting price of Rs 61,000 and Rs 73,000 respectively. While the Pixel 2 offered a 5-inch AMOLED display and a 2,700mAh battery, the Pixel 2 XL offered a larger 6-inch P-OLED display and a 3,520mAh battery. Both phones entered the market running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. The Pixel 3 family succeeded the Pixel 2 family roughly a year later with Android 9 Pie running right out of the box. The Pixel 3 devices sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and replace the Pixel 2 devices’ Snapdragon 835 chipset. The Pixel 3 has 5.5-inch P-OLED display and a 2,915mAh battery, while the Pixel 3 XL has a 6.3-inch P-OLED display and a 3,430mAh battery. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL currently sell for Rs 59,999 and Rs 64,999 respectively on Flipkart.   Related Read: Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL pre-orders start on Flipkart with bundled offers and discounts Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL specifications, price, India launch and everything else you need to know
