Turkey orders a fleet of terrifying machine-gun drones

In this day and age of high-tech surveillance and warfare, Turkey have gone one step further and have become the first country to order a fleet of machine-gun fitted drones. These drones can attack and hit targets with high precision and also come with muted recoil, making it one of the most lethal modern weapons out there. According to New Scientist, the drone weighs about 25 kilos and comes with eight rotating blades. The machine-gun also comes with 200 rounds of ammo and fires a 15 round burst along with single shots.

Although many other countries also use various kinds of drones for crowd control and security reasons, this is the first time a drone has come equipped with an actual firearm or weapon. The drone is called Sangar and is manufactured by an Ankara-based firm called Asisguard. According to reports, these drones should be ready to be shipped to Turkish shores as early as the end of this year.

Asisguard claims that the new drone can accurately hit a target area of 15 centimeters from a distance of 200 meters. This makes it incredibly accurate and should drive fear into the people facing down this drone. As of now, Turkey is the only country to order these drones but we should see more countries adopt this new drone technology.

Google Chrome 79 rollout for Android halted due to bug that wipes data for some apps

Google recently started rolling out Chrome 79 update for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS users. The new update brings a slew of new features to the browser, but due to a major bug, Google has paused its rollout for Android devices. As per a couple of Chrome Bug report pages, via 9to5Google, there’s a WebView issue related with the new version that affects third-party Android apps and is causing user data loss. Many apps are web versions of full-fledged websites and many apps don’t have an innate web browser. When these apps are booted, the Android WebView system component is launched, which is handled by Chrome.

The latest Chrome update changed the location where web data is stored and didn’t migrate it appropriately. This means that the data is not deleted but it wasn’t moved either, which caused multiple apps to start afresh. The original data is still present but there’s no defined way to access it and Google is working on a fix. As per a Chromium bug tracker sheet, there are a few strategies that are being considered to solve the issue. The first one is continuing the migration and moving the missing files to their new locations or to revert the change by moving migrated files to their old locations.

If you are one of the users who is affected by the new Chrome update, rolling back to the previous version might help resolve the issue. The new update was apparently already rolled out to 50 percent devices that have the app. In case you have not updated Chrome on Android, we suggest you wait a while. The new Chrome update brings notable new features for the browser. There are multiple new security improvements, including an integrated password checking utility. Chrome is also enabling real-time phishing protection on the desktop. You can read more about the update here.

New Samsung Galaxy S11+ camera setup showcases the periscope zoom shooter

Samsung Galaxy S11+ is rumoured to launch alongside the Galaxy S11 and Galaxy S11e early next year. However, Samsung Galaxy S11+ rumours have already started trickling in. After the alleged renders leak, the new camera setup of the Galaxy S11+ has appeared online. It reveals the placement of alleged 108MP main shooter along with an ultra-wide camera and a 5X zoom periscope camera unit.

This is the real Galaxy S11+ camera. On the left is the ultra-wide-angle, main camera, and periscope zoom lens. I don't know the exact distribution on the right. It is expected to include flash and ToF. pic.twitter.com/98exPMSqgf

— Ice universe (@UniverseIce) December 16, 2019

The latest development comes from the popular tipster @IceUniverse, who tweeted that image, which comes as a surprise since earlier renders have revealed a weird camera placement in the big module at the back. What’s new with this leak is the placement of the periscope camera.

Previously, Samsung Galaxy S11 series is said to feature a 2nd-generation 108MP sensor. While many of us were assuming that Samsung will use the recently unveiled ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor, there could be a second-generation 108MP sensor in development.

In earlier renders, Samsung Galaxy S11+ was shown to feature a rectangular camera module that may sport up to five sensors along with laser autofocus and a flash. In renders, two of the sensors were smaller than the other three. As for video, the S11+ can reportedly shoot 8K videos.

Samsung Galaxy S11+ is said to stick with the curved display. Leaks suggest that the display will be as large as 6.9-inches while the panel itself will be Samsung’s own Dynamic AMOLED display. Further, it is rumoured that Samsung Galaxy S11+ will come equipped with a120Hz refresh rate in the display.

The renders also reveal the Galaxy S11+ will have a single punch-hole camera instead of the dual-camera stack in the S10+. The device is said to launch in February next year. Also, Samsung could launch the Galaxy Fold 2 alongside the Galaxy S series in 2020.

Reliance Jio subscribers now getting VoWi-fi in select areas after Airtels introduces similar service

The war of the major telecom companies in India has truly been heating up in the past few months. From the revamped plans to services offered, it’s been a tight race between the three major telcos in India. Just a few days ago, we reported that Airtel had started rolling out its VoWi-Fi service dubbed Airtel Wi-fi calling in the Delhi NCR region with plans to make the service available in more Indian cities in the coming months.

Not to be outdone, Reliance Jio has seemingly rolled out their version of VoWi-fi service in the Nashik region in Maharashtra. According to a report on TelecomTalk, a Twitter user shared screenshots of the service. Just a note, the screenshots were taken from an Apple device, so take it for what it is. What this means is that Reliance are taking Airtel head-on with this service. We think that this service will only be able to work across Reliance Jio networks.

Reliance has not released a list of which phones will be compatible with the service but we expect an announcement or two in the coming months. Maybe the company is testing out the service in a smaller region to iron out all the kinkc and bugs before it makes the service available to the rest of the country. Whatever the case, this tech could be the future of voice calling in India.

Reliance Jio JioFiber users complain about throttled upload speeds

Jio stepped into the home broadband segment with its JioFiber service, which aimed at delivering more data at faster speeds and lower prices. However, its rivals bolstered their offerings to make them more enticing so that users don’t switch to other broadband operators. While Jio has notable broadband offers, its rivals are also competing at the same level but it seems like Jio is capping upload speeds for its JioFiber service users. As per a TelecomTalk report, JioFiber users are complaining on Twitter that their upload speeds are being capped at 1/10th of the original speeds.

There can be some difference between upload and download speeds but as per the report, upload speeds for some JioFiber users is being capped at 1/10th of the original speeds. We found a couple of tweets that mentioned this is happening and posted a screenshot that shows their download speeds nearing 100 Mbps but uploads being stuck at around 10Mbps. We have reached out to Jio for a comment and will update the article when we receive a response. JioFiber plans start at Rs 699 and offer speeds of up to 100Mbps and go up to Rs 3,999 for up to 1Gbps speeds.

@reliancejio @RelianceJioCare got the first paid connection in my society...upload speed of 7 Mbps Vs d/l 94.6..all free users get equal upload speed from jio..new rules for paid subscribers! Is this customer delight! Even providers like tripleplay offer better!! #JioFiber pic.twitter.com/KCvau9h7L2

In similar news, Jio is not the only Fiber broadband provider in India. Airtel Xstream Fiber was previously running a new offer wherein new users who sign up for the service can avail Rs 1,000 off. The offer was only available in select regions and one can also get the first month of rental waived off. Airtel’s new broadband plans start at Rs 799 and go up to Rs 3,999 per month. With the base Rs 799 plan, one gets 150GB of high-speed internet with speeds of up to 100 Mbps and unlimited nationwide calling. There’s also Rs 999 and Rs 1,499 plans that come with 300GB and 500GB of monthly data and speeds of up to 200 and 300Mbps respectively.
